Scan a copy of your present handwriting from your book or write a paragraph of about 5-7 lines and send it to me at goodwriting@hotmail.com and I assure you that you will not be able to recognize your own handwriting in the days, months and years ahead. Sentence having all 26 alphabets a to z
‘The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.’ Memorize the 7 Golden Rules and implement the same in the above sentence having all the 26 alphabets from a to z. You can write in the PRINT, CURSIVE or a mix of both. First of all be neat and try to write without cancellations and overwriting. Next, none of the alphabets should be written above or below the line. Whenever an alphabet is written, it should be of the same size as the previous alphabet. It should never be of a bigger or a smaller size and give it a round finish. Don’t ever squeeze your alphabets. Think of your alphabets as juicy fruits and not squeezed fruits. Do not mix up the slants. You cannot write your ‘p’ straight and your ‘t’ with a slant. Either you write all your alphabets straight or all your alphabets with a slant. When you write, two words shouldn’t look like one word. Give ample spacing between words. Check whether you have implemented the Top, Middle & Lower principle for alphabets in the above sentence. Capital T,h,k,b,f,t,h,l,&d should be of the same height. All the middle alphabets should be of the same height and the roots of q,j,p,y & g should be of the same length. Implement the above rules in your day to day writing and soon you will see your grades improve. Give off your best and let your pen do the rest.
Numerals
The same rule for Capital alphabets applies for numerals. While writing numerals 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10, keep the top part of the same height.
Capital Alphabets
Now write capital alphabets A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z taking care to see that the top part of all alphabets are of the same height. These alphabets are used for filling up forms when you have to write in block letters and also for titles.
Small Alphabets
Now write your small alphabets a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z taking care to see that the top part of b,d,f,h,k,l, and t are of the same height. Also the lower part of g,j,p,q and y are of the same length. Finally the middle size of all alphabets should be the same. The more you are able to maintain the middle size the better your handwriting will look. It is as simple as that.
The 7 Golden Rules of Beautiful Handwriting
1. Simplicity is the key to good handwriting. Try your level best to write without cancellations and overwriting. If at all you have to cancel, do so with a single neat line which should be of the same shade as the other alphabets. Please do not darken this line and highlight your mistakes.
2. Write all the alphabets on the line.
3. Maintain the same size of all the alphabets and give it a round finish.
4. Do not mix up the slants. You cannot write some alphabets straight and others with a slant. Either you write all alphabets straight or all alphabets with a slant.
5. Give ample spacing between words.
6. Give two finger spacing when you start a paragraph and from the next line onwards stick to the margin.
7. Finally for English handwriting to look beautiful you have to keep three things in mind. Top, Middle and Lower points. All alphabets with stem like b,d,f,h,k,l,t have to be of the same height and will come in the top slot. You cannot write your b of one height and your h of a smaller height. If h is of a smaller height it will look like n. The meaning of words will change Eg; ‘hot’ could become ‘not’. Alphabets like a,c,e etc will come in the middle slot and should be of the same size. Alphabets like g,j,p,q,y will come in the lower slot and should be of the same length. You cannot write y of one length and g of another length.
Can handwriting be improved at any age?
The answer is YES. There is a general feeling that handwriting can only be improved if taught at an early age. Nothing can be further away from the truth. Through my years of experience of teaching handwriting to students of all age groups, I have come to the conclusion that I get better results with older students. They keep all the points in mind and hence I get quicker and better results with older students. Even adults who have had dreams of having a good handwriting but did not know how to go about doing it can give it a try. You will be surprised with the results. Your handwriting will never be the same again. Give it a try. It’s never too late!

Whether you are 6 or 60, if handwriting is your problem, you have come to the right place.
